Charolais beef

Quality labels

The quality labels

Quality controls have been developed over several years, guaranteeing the origin of Charolais beef, good farming practice, and respect for the environment.

However, the following quality labels also assure excellence in every stage of the production process, from the farmer through to the butcher, and the exceptional quality of the beef.

L'AOC

The label « Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée « (AOC) identifies a product that is typical and specifically linked with its origin.  The products recognised as AOC are an expression of the intimate link between the environment, the culture, the traditions and practices developed over generations – which are evoked in the term “terroir”.

The European equivalent is Appellation d’Origine Protegée.

The syndicate «  Boeuf de Charolles » obtained the « l' Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée » on   2nd April 2010 and this was confirmed in the official journal of 2nd September 2010.  It guarantees that the beef has been produced in the Charolais area, birthplace of the race, and in accordance with the traditional practices of its producers.
